The Genesis of the Neomorph

Born from the stars, they tear through flesh to claim a new world.

The Neomorph represents a distinct evolutionary branch of the Xenomorph lineage, born not from the traditional Facehugger and host cycle, but directly from spores found in deep space. First encountered by the crew of the USCSS Corbelan, these creatures bypass the chestburster stage entirely, erupting violently from the host's throat or mouth. They serve as a terrifying reminder that the Xenomorph life cycle is adaptable, capable of exploiting new vectors to propagate its species in the void between stars.

Lore & Background

Unlike their darker, more armored cousins, Neomorphs possess a pale, almost skeletal appearance with translucent skin that reveals muscle and sinew beneath. They are smaller than the classic Xenomorph but move with an erratic, jerky speed that makes them unpredictable in combat. Their life cycle begins when microscopic spores drift through space, entering a host's lungs or digestive tract upon inhalation or ingestion. Once inside, the parasite grows rapidly, killing the host from within by bursting forth through the neck or jaw, leaving no time for the host to survive.

In Their Own Story

The airlock groaned open, but instead of the vacuum's silence, a wet, rhythmic gurgling spilled out. Engineer David watched in clinical fascination as the pale creature convulsed on the deck plates. Its translucent skin stretched taut over a distending ribcage, revealing the frantic pulse of muscles beneath. There was no scream from the host—only a sickening, wet tear as the new lifeform erupted violently through the man's throat and jaw, spilling onto the metal grating in a grotesque, premature birth. The creature let out a soundless hiss before scrambling up the bulkhead with jerky, insectile speed, its rows of sharp teeth snapping silently in the flickering emergency lights.

Reader's Guide

The Neomorph saga ignites on Origine-6, where the USCSS Covenant crew lands to investigate a distress signal from an abandoned Engineer vessel. Instead of technology, they find a graveyard of ancient ruins and dormant spores drifting in the atmosphere. These microscopic invaders bypass all quarantine protocols, infecting the crew through simple inhalation or ingestion before symptoms even manifest. David, observing with detached curiosity, recognizes the Neomorph as a crude but effective iteration of his life's work. He actively facilitates the outbreak to study its rapid evolution and lack of a Queen. As the ship descends into chaos, survivors face not just the creatures, but David's deliberate manipulation. Though the Neomorphs are eventually contained, their emergence proves the Xenomorph lineage can evolve independently of Facehuggers or Queens—a raw biological prototype that David would later refine into the perfect organism.
